Snow care & property care · Bancroft & North Hastings, Ontario

Your lane, cleared and photographed, before you wake.

We snowblow lakefront lanes within 30 minutes of McArthurs Mills all winter, gently, with no banks and nothing left on the road, then send you a dated record of every visit. Read it with your morning coffee in Toronto or Ottawa, and rest easy knowing someone up here is looking after the place.

We snowblow, we never plow. Gentler on your property, and no wall of snow at the road.

The hardest part of owning up here is the months you can't be here.

From roughly November through April, the cottage sits quiet. The town road gets plowed to the turn and no further. Between the last weekend of the season and the first real thaw, nobody walks the property, unless someone's paid to.

From a few hours away, worry fills the gap. A neighbour's quick glance, a plow invoice, a phone that never rings, none of it actually tells you the roof held or the pipes didn't freeze. And when damage turns up in spring, nobody can say which storm did it.

That's the part we take off your plate.

A single warmly lit cottage window against dark pines and deep snow.

We snowblow. We never plow. See the difference.

A plow shoves snow sideways into banks that narrow the lane. A snowblower lifts it and throws it clear, protecting gardens, gravel, and sightlines all winter.

It's more work for us, and a lot less damage to the place you love. For flake's sakes, that's how it should be done.

Three ways we keep watch.

Drift

For the steady snows. We clear once you've had a good 8 cm, within 18 hours, and log every visit.

Blizzard

Proof is the product.

Every visit is written down the same way, date, time, lane length, depth cleared, what we sanded, and what we checked. We photograph the head of the lane and the building, and the entry lands in your inbox the same morning. We keep the whole season on file.

Come spring, you get one clean summary of the winter. If a broker, a buyer, or an insurance company ever asks what happened at the property between November and April, the answer is a document, not a memory.

Included with every plan

All winter we protect your gardens. In spring, we perfect them.

Because we snowblow instead of plow, your beds and edging come through the winter untouched, no blade shoving snow and gravel into your borders. But we don't disappear at the thaw.

When the snow's gone, our landscapers come back and re-perfect the edging around your gardens, crisp bed lines, clean borders, any winter wear set right, so the property you left in the fall looks even better than you remember.

It's the whole idea behind us: the same people who care for your place all winter are the ones who make it beautiful again in spring. Snow care and property care, start to finish.

Included with every plan, no upsell, no surprise invoice.

And edging is just where it starts. The crew behind our spring work is a full landscape design-build team, natural stone, water features, ponds, and shoreline restoration. If your place needs more than a tidy edge come summer, we can help with that too.

Where we run.

Routes cap in October

We run out of McArthurs Mills, and we only take properties inside a 30-minute drive of it. That's the whole rule. A kept window in the middle of a storm is only possible when the truck is already close, so the further edge of the map is somebody else's work, not ours.

Those are fair-weather driving times from our door. In a storm they stretch, which is exactly why the radius is tight. Routes are built in October and capped on purpose, so nobody gets skipped when the snow comes.

Outside the 30 minutes? Send us the address and we'll put you on the waitlist for next season. For an emergency or a one-off job beyond the radius we'll still come when we can, with a travel charge quoted up front before we leave the yard.

Neighbours. That's the short version.

We grew up around these lakes. We know the sound the ice makes in January, and which lanes drift shut first when the wind comes off the water. When you close up in the fall, you're not handing your place to a call centre three provinces away, you're handing it to people who drive these roads all winter, who'll be at the rink on Saturday, and who take it personally when a storm rolls in and your cottage is on the list.

We started doing this because we watched too many good people lose a season to a frozen pipe or a roof that carried too long, damage nobody caught until the snow melted. That never sat right with us. A place you love shouldn't sit unwatched for half the year.

So we made it our winter job to watch it, clear it, gently, with a snowblower, never a plow, and write down exactly what we find. And when spring comes, we're the ones who set your gardens right again. Start to finish, it's your place, cared for.

For flake's sakes: somebody around here ought to keep an eye on the place. Might as well be the folks next door.

What owners ask.

Do you plow or snowblow?

We snowblow, always, never plow. It's gentler on your gardens, edging and gravel, leaves no banks and no snow on the road, and gives us far more control working close to the cottage. It's more work for us and a lot less damage to your property.

What counts as a storm?

Any snowfall that hits your plan's trigger: 8 cm on Drift, 5 cm on Whiteout and Blizzard. We measure at the property, not at the airport.

When does the clearing window start?

When the snow stops. Your window (18, 8, or 4 hours) is counted from the end of the snowfall, so you know when to expect us.

Does my cottage insurance require winter checks?

Many seasonal policies do, especially for unoccupied properties. Our dated records are exactly the kind of proof insurers look for, bring your policy and we'll match a plan to it.

What if the season is light?

You're paying for readiness and a kept window, not per storm. A quiet winter still gets you the property checks and the season summary.

What area do you actually cover?

Anything inside a 30-minute drive of McArthurs Mills: Bancroft, Boulter, Hermon, Hartsmere, Egan Creek, Denbigh, Palmer Rapids, L'Amable, New Carlow, Quadeville, Mayo, and Hardwood, Moccasin, Diamond and Weslemkoon lakes. We keep it tight so the truck is close when a storm hits.

Do you take on properties outside that radius?

Not on a season route, because we can't promise the window. Send the address and we'll add you to the waitlist. For an emergency or a one-off job further out we'll come when we can, with a travel charge quoted before we leave.

What do you need before the season starts?

A quick site visit to measure the lane and note anything that matters. We quote, you sign, and you're on the route.

Let's start with a look at your place.

Tell us where the property is and how long the lane runs. We measure before we quote, and nothing's booked until you've signed.
